Orientation and Integration
All orientation and integration programs apply an early intervention holistic approach to effectively tackle the multiple barriers faced by BME individuals and communities in order to fully contribute socially and economically. Through group work, activities, training and person centred support, individuals are empowered to unlock their potential and become active participants in the local community as well as wider society.
Language and Orientation program
This is practical person centred support which addresses challenges asylum seekers, refugees and other migrants face on a daily basis. The program is run over an 8 week period where people come to sessions in the morning for one and a half hours, 3 days a week. This program currently runs 4 times a year and registration is ongoing throughout the year.
The Language and Orientaion program also provides an interim solution whilst upskilling for individuals who need to learn English prior to attending an ESOL course at college resulting in them being able to enter at a higher level.
The basis of this course is learning the English language through conversation and practical learning on how to live in Scotland. Activities and topics include; visits to historic sites in Glasgow and beyond, how to enrol for college and opportunities for voluntary work.
Drop-in and Individual Support
We provide a drop-in service for individual and peer to peer support to the community as well as on an ongoing basis to those who have been on any of our programs. Call or visit our hub to make an appointment. A cup of tea and a bite to eat await you!
Women’s group
This program provides a safe space for women to share skills and experiences as well as support one another. Women have described it as a place where they have made friends and found family. Participants determine what skills they want to develop and how they want this group to grow. Also included are activities such as sewing classes and craft making.
Children’s Talent Group
The children’s talent group includes a gospel choir and football sessions. All activities are developed with these leaders of tomorrow. The football sessions are run in partnership with Street Soccer.
The children’s choir meets on Saturdays at Radiant & Brighter where children from 5 to 12 years old learn to play the keyboard and learn new songs to perform in the community and at corporate events. This gives the children an opportunity to meet new friends, play, build their confidence and learn new skills. Contact us if you would like our choir to perform at your event.
